(update for 23 February 2007)
One of the subjects in the Jan 05, Diploma in Conventions & Event Management intake is the Exhibition Operations module. This apparently was our last event task prior to graduation. The first day of this subject, we were given a task; that was to develop 3 different booth designs for our client, Generating Opportunities of Learning Disables (GOLD) of SMK Bandar Sunway.
The whole team of 9 students; Aliah Jamin, Aira Yaziz, Daniel Lee, Elena Tong (me), Ng Sin Hue, MD Alif, Sylvia Chua, Wong Chui-San and Wong Ming Yi then teamed up together then had a meeting with our clients to know their requirements of the booth and brainstormed together to develop various concepts.
Little did we know, we were to organize a press conference with 5 judges from GOLD; of which the selection of the booth design would be decided there n then. Adding to that, the client have all the rights to reject all the designs at the press conference and if so, we basically failed our module or which marks will only be accumulated from the day the design is selected up-to the postmortem date.

After various meetings with the client in regards of their requirements and the plans for the press conference, the day had finally arrived and the 9 of us were as busy as bees; arranging the GOLD’s Deli to a press conference setup, networking with the press, talking to the judges, and ensuring the whole event runs smoothly.
With the assistance of Ms. Kit Thong n Ms. Wan Yee (our lecturer for the Exhibition Operations module, Ms. Sue Yii was admitted to the hospital) the event was smooth. The judges were happy with the designs and our guests (media, parents) were impressed with our capabilities. Overall…we did an OK job for this small event =)~
(Our client selected our first design, Art Attack)
After the event, we had a short postmortem with Ms. Kit Thong prior to returning the items borrowed from the college to the perspective lecturers/people. Daniel, Alif, Ming Yi, Chui-San and I then adjourned for dinner at Well-Cook Gourmet Restaurant in SS14, where we called it “fried laksa shop”. This was where Daniel, Ming Yi, Chui-San and I spent most of our lunches and dinner during our “Break The Beat” Sem 5 event preparation. The nostalgia of those days…
